Publication of Net Earnings for 2015/16
NHS England requires that the net earnings of doctors engaged in the practice is publicised, and the required disclosure is shown below. However it should be noted that the prescribed method for calculating earnings is potentially misleading because it takes no account of how much time doctors spend working in the practice, and should not be used to form any judgement about GP earnings, nor to make any comparison with any other practice.
All GP practices are required to declare the mean earnings (i.e. average pay) for GPs working to deliver NHS services to patients at each practice.
The average pay for GPs working in St. Clements Partnership in the last financial year was £66,982.00 before tax and National Insurance. This is for three full-time GPs and eight part-time GPs
In this practice a part-time G.P. works around 40 hours a week and a full-time G.P. significantly more.
St. Clements Practice operates a personal list and all patients have a named G.P. This G.P. oversees their patients’ healthcare which means that all prescriptions, test results and correspondence regarding their patients will be managed by him or her. If you would like to know the name of your G.P., please telephone the Registrations Clerk at the Practice any afternoon after 1.00p.m.
Whilst St. Clements recommends that patients see their named G.P. for all ongoing health issues, patients may also book an appointment with another doctor or nurse at the practice. Patients may also request to move from their existing named G.P. to another G.P. at the practice, if that other G.P.’s list is not full.
Patient information on plans for collecting anonymous fit note data
Fit notes are also known as a ‘Statement of fitness for work’ or a ‘Med3 form’ and were introduced in April 2010 replacing the ‘sick note’. Doctors issue fit notes to people to record the advice they have given about their fitness for work.
From January 2016 we will start to collect anonymous data on fit notes issued in England. We will start publishing the data from spring 2016.
The data will help us to gain a better understanding of sickness absence and develop policy to help people with health conditions return to work earlier.
We know that for the majority of people, work can be good for their health. Understanding more about sickness absences will allow us to provide services where they are most needed to support patients, their families and communities.
Fit notes issued form this surgery from December 2014 will be the first to be collected by HSCIC.
